PNW AHJ Lookup is a free, no-signup directory of the fire, building, and electrical Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for 11 Pacific Northwest cities. Built by Jalen Builds as part of the broader PNW contractor cluster.
Why this exists
Most homeowners doing a remodel, panel upgrade, or fire-sprinkler retrofit don't know which permit authority handles their address. The information is on each city or fire district's website, but you have to know where to look. We built this tool to put all 11 PNW cities on one page so you can find your AHJ in under a minute.
What an AHJ does
- · Issues permits for construction, remodel, mechanical, and life-safety work
- · Performs inspections at framing, rough-in, and final stages
- · Enforces local code amendments on top of state/national codes
- · Reviews plans for fire-sprinkler, alarm, and other life-safety systems
How we sourced the data
Each fire AHJ, building department, and electrical authority on this tool was verified against the city or fire district's public website as of 2026. Fire districts in Washington consolidate periodically — we re-verify on the data refresh schedule, but always double-check with your AHJ before submitting a permit application.
